Human Tissue Supplier

In addition to its role as a supplier of blood products for Québec, Héma-Québec acts as supplier of human tissues intended for transplant. We are responsible for managing a human tissue bank for Québec.

There are different categories of human tissues, including bone grafts and heart valves. We collect, treat and distribute bone grafts to Québec’s hospital centres. We also collect heart valves, which are treated and distributed by another company at the present time.

Organ donation and management are the responsibility of Québec-Transplant, whereas the donation and management of ocular tissue are the responsibility of the Banque d’Yeux du Québec and the Banque d’Yeux nationale.

Héma-Québec received American Association of Tissue Banks accreditation.
