Blood Donor Centre and Québec City establishment pass inspections

Montreal, April 03, 2009 – Héma-Québec welcomed Health Canada inspectors at its Québec City establishment and its Place Laurier Québec GLOBULE Blood Donor Centre from January 19 to 23, 2009, to conduct an inspection of its facilities. Following this visit, Health Canada renewed the establishment licences of both facilities.

The inspectors made two observations further to their visit of the Québec City establishment, and corrective measures were implemented during the inspection. The GLOBULE Centre at Place Laurier Québec obtained a perfect score.

“Héma-Québec’s personnel can be proud of these results, which reflect their dedication and professionalism. It goes without saying that Quebecers can count on Héma-Québec to supply blood products, stem cells and human tissues that meet the strictest standards and safety measures,” said Dr. Francine Décary, Héma-Québec’s President and CEO.

These audits are designed to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices. Health Canada Inspectorate representatives inspect Héma-Québec’s Montréal and Québec facilities every year, and closely examine the three GLOBULE Blood Donor Centres every two years.
