Héma-Québec congratulates Héma-Québec Foundation’s Chair on receiving the Ordre national du Québec

Montréal, June 1st, 2011 – Dr. Jean De Serres, Chief Executive Officer of Héma-Québec, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Monique Lefebvre, Chair of the Héma-Québec Foundation, as Knight of the Ordre national du Québec (C.Q.), the most prestigious honorary distinction bestowed by the Government of Québec.

“Héma-Québec is privileged to benefit from Ms Lefebvre’s extensive knowledge and experience through her work with the Foundation. Her professional career and contribution to the Foundation’s success are truly impressive,” stated Dr. De Serres.

Ms Lefebvre received the prestigious honour in recognition of her contribution to the fields of higher education, research and innovation, and improvement of municipal government practices.

“I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to this exceptional woman for her support of Québec’s development, especially her contribution to the successful work of the Héma-Québec Foundation, which directly supports Héma-Québec in the pursuit of its mission,” added Jean-Pierre Allaire, FCA, Chair of Héma-Québec’s Board of Directors.

A psychologist by training, Ms Lefebvre has held numerous high-level positions in academia, major corporations and the public sector. Her career includes vice-rector of education and research at Université du Québec à Montréal, president and Chief Executive Officer of the Centre de Recherche Informatique de Montréal, president of Quebecor Multimedia, chair of the Board of Directors of Innovatech du Grand Montréal, and vice-president for Québec and Atlantic Canada at Ericsson Canada. Her several major accomplishments include steering the transition to a new structure for Montréal in the wake of the merger of 28 municipalities. Ms Lefebvre is very active on many boards, including that of the Héma-Québec Foundation, which she has chaired since May 2005.
