A Blood Donor Centre at Centre Laval
Laval, January 20th, 2009 – Citizens of Laval and of Montreal’s North Shore now have another way to save lives. There was an official ceremony today to celebrate the opening of a new GLOBULE Blood Donor Centre at our new premises at Centre Laval. Héma-Québec’s personnel and volunteers have been welcoming donors to the centre since December 15th.

«There is already a strong tradition of blood donation in Laval since the annual blood drive organized by the city is the largest in Canada. This new GLOBULE Centre will enable donors to partake in this essential societal activity more regularly», said Laval Mayor Mr. Gilles Vaillancourt.
GLOBULE Laval is easily accessible and open 7 days a week, which will make every blood donation experience positive and pleasant. Donors from the region can make appointments to give blood and also donate special blood components. The opening of this new GLOBULE Blood Donor Centre ensures that the city’s North Shore residents will benefit from another opportunity to give life up to 6 times a year, which is once every 56 days!
The GLOBULE Blood Donor Centre, while reaching a larger pool of donors, also has the particular advantage of enabling Héma-Québec to collect certain blood components, such as platelets, which cannot be done in mobile donor clinics. Obviously, the GLOBULE concept is complementary to our mobile clinics which account for 87% of our annual organized blood drives. Two other GLOBULE Centres welcome visitors, at Place Versailles in Montreal and in the borough of Sainte-Foy in Québec.
