Health Canada: Québec City facility and Laurier Québec Globule Centre pass inspection

Québec, November 14, 2011 — The Héma-Québec facility in Québec City and the Laurier Québec Globule Blood Donor Centre had their licenses renewed following the annual inspection by Health Canada, which took place from October 3 to 7, 2011.

One observation that has no major impact on product safety was made by the inspectors. Corrections have already been made or will be made shortly.

“The fact that Héma-Québec has retained its license shows that it fully complies with the safety measures required by Health Canada and that the staff of the blood product supplier makes work quality a constant priority,” stated Dr. Jean de Serres, President and Chief Executive Officer of Héma-Québec.

Every year, Health Canada representatives carry out inspections in the two Héma-Québec facilities. The three Globule Blood Donor Centres are inspected every two years. This measure is aimed at ensuring that the Québec supplier of blood products complies with the strictest quality and safety standards and meets the requirements of the establishment license issued by Health Canada.
