Dr. Jean De Serres honoured by the ESG UQAM Alumni Association
Montréal, November 13, 2013 – Yesterday evening, the ESG UQAM Alumni Association honoured Dr. Jean De Serres, CEO of Héma-Québec, at its 2013 Gala Prix Performance recognizing graduates with outstanding careers.
The jury selected Dr. De Serres in the Manager category “for his visionary management style, intellectual curiosity, passion and ability to bring together stakeholders to realize complex projects.”
Dr. De Serres boasts extensive experience in medicine and management, having worked in public health, the pharmaceutical industry and the biotechnology sector. Under his leadership, Héma-Québec has introduced an ambitious human resources plan that encourages innovation at every level, accountability and efficiency.
Since assuming his position in 2011, Dr. De Serres has endeavoured to broaden and consolidate Héma-Québec’s mandate. This new direction has led to the establishment of a totally new plasma collection centre, set to open next week, in response to the growing demand for this blood component, as well as to the creation of a public breast milk bank for extremely preterm babies, scheduled for the spring of 2014. Another noteworthy achievement is the C-LAVIE Complex, a cell production facility that will be used primarily to manufacture standardized cell and tissue products for clinical studies as well as for the large-scale production of approved cellular therapy.
Jean De Serres is a medical doctor and holds an MBA in bio-industry management from UQAM’s school of management sciences (ESG), as well as a master’s degree in community health from Université de Montréal.
