• Plasmavie of Trois-Rivières celebrates its tenth anniversary

  Yesterday, the Plasmavie of Trois-Rivières celebrated its tenth anniversary. The event brought together in a festive atmosphere Dany Carpentier, the municipal councillor from the La-Vérendrye district of Trois-Rivières, members of the executive committee, the board of directors, and several branches of Héma-Québec, staff and volunteers of the Centre, as well as donors, recipients and partners.

• Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease-related exclusion criteria to be lifted for blood product donation

  On Monday, December 4, 2023, thousands of people will become eligible over night to donate blood products. That’s right: Health Canada has authorized Héma-Québec to remove potential exposure to variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (vCJD) from its list of blood product donation exclusion criteria.

• First anniversary of the Héma-Québec Donor Centre in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville

  The first anniversary of the Héma-Québec Donor Centre in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville was celebrated yesterday. The event – held in the presence of Ludovic Grisé Farand, Mayor of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville – had a festive atmosphere and brought together members of the executive committee and board of directors, members of a number of branches of Héma-Québec, staff and volunteers from the Centre, as well as donors and partners.

• Innovation: Héma-Québec launches a virtual reality tool

  As part of the initiatives marking its 25th anniversary, Héma-Québec is launching a virtual reality experience today aimed at reducing the public’s apprehensions about donating blood. Because a lack of knowledge about the process is among the biggest obstacles to donating, the organization turned to the Québec firm OVA to run an immersive pilot project, deployed in some donation centres and during recruitment activities across the province.

  Héma-Québec is proud to participate in the ceremony organized by the CODA to commemorate Québec’s organ and tissue donors. The 30th edition of this important gathering, which was held this morning, is an ideal opportunity to highlight the generosity and altruism of those whose donations have helped change many people’s lives. Their loved ones, a few hundred of whom were gathered today for the ceremony, have a lot to be proud of!

  Exactly 25 years ago, on September 28, 1998, the Québec government created Héma-Québec, which became the exclusive supplier for blood products and medications manufactured from plasma for people in the province.

• National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week–Talk to Your Loved Ones!

  National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week is April 23 to 29, and Héma-Québec is taking the opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of indicating your consent to be a donor by signing your health insurance card or joining one of the official registries. Once you’ve done this, don’t forget to let your loved ones know your wishes!
