- Héma-Québec announces partnership with three hospitals to optimize procurement for human tissue donations

Héma-Québec is proud to announce a new partnership with CIUSSS de l’Estrie–CHUS, CIUSSS de la Mauricie-et-du-Centre-du-Québec and CHU de Québec–Université Laval that will provide the institutions with a local point person specially dedicated to human tissue donation. The goal of the partnership is to optimize the process of identifying and referring human tissue donors, which will shorten death-to-donation times, increase potential donor referrals to Héma Québec and improve tissue donation supply and quality.
- Héma-Québec opens 12th donor centre in Québec

Héma-Québec is proud to announce the opening of its 12th donor centre in Québec, and the first in the Centre-du-Québec region. The new Héma-Québec Drummondville Donor Centre will welcome its first donors in early 2025. Plasma donations made at this centre will be used to produce the specialty drugs needed to treat patients at hospitals across Québec. Each donation is an act of extraordinary generosity and part of a chain of life-changing kindness for thousands of patients and their families.

Héma Québec participates in the public hearings of the Committee on Health and Social Services of the Assemblée nationale du Québec, which has the order of initiative to look into ways to facilitate organ and tissue donation, notably the adoption of presumed consent.

Héma-Québec is calling for donations in the next few days from people with type O+ and O- blood. Blood donations are often down during the holiday season, while demand for blood from hospitals is up.
