Health Canada: Montreal facility and GLOBULE Blood Donor Center in Brossard inspections
Montreal, June 12, 2020–From September 17 to 27, 2019, Health Canada conducted its annual inspection of the Montreal facility as well as the GLOBULE Blood Donor Centre in Brossard–Quartier DIX30, following which their establishment licences were renewed.
Thirteen observations for the Montreal facility and two observations for the GLOBULE Blood Donor Centre in Brossadr–Quartier DIX30 without a major impact on product safety were issued by the inspectors. Corrective measures have already been taken or will be taken shortly.
These results reflect once again that Héma-Québec meet the strictest standards and security measures and demonstrates that blood product, stem cells and human tissues safety is a constant priority.
Health Canada audits are designed to ensure compliance with safety measures and with the requirements stipulated in its operating licence. Inspections are conducted every year at Héma-Québec’s Montréal and Québec facilities, and the GLOBULE Blood Donor Centres are closely examined every two years.
Héma-Québec’s mission is to efficiently meet the needs of the Québec population for quality blood and other biological products of human origin. Héma-Québec encompasses 1,300 employees and nearly 225,000 blood, stem cell, mother’s milk and human tissue donors, in addition to thousands of blood drive volunteers. Each year, Héma-Québec delivers some 750,000 human biological products to Québec hospitals to meet the needs of patients.
Give blood. Give life.
