NetCord-FACT
Héma-Québec’s Public Cord Blood Bank was the first public bank in Canada to receive NetCord-FACT accreditation—an essential qualification in cell therapy.
NetCord-FACT’s international standards are defined by respected experts, based on the latest knowledge about cord blood banking. As a result, Héma-Québec is recognized around the world as one of the leaders in this field.
ISO 15189
The Reference and Stem Cell Laboratory (RSCL) is ISO 15189–certified for biomedical testing (erythrocyte immunology, leuco-platelet immunology and HLA typing).

ASHI
The Reference and Stem Cell Laboratory (RSCL) is accredited by the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI) for HLA typing.
ISBT 128
Héma-Québec was one of the first organizations in North America to comply with the international ISBT 128 labelling standard for stem cells, the purpose of which is to secure greater safety and traceability.
Health Canada
Héma-Québec adheres to Health Canada’s rigorous standards (CSA–Canadian Standards Association):
- CAN/CSA-Z900.2.5-12: Lymphohematopoietic cells for transplantation;
- CAN/CSA-Z900.1-12: Cells, tissues, and organs for transplantation: General requirements.
WMDA
The World Marrow Donor Association is an international community which sets standards and regulations for stem cell donor registries in order to:
- favor best stem cell transplant outcome in recipients; and
- ensure best practice surrounding stem cell donors.
